About UsAnimals need plants for food, shelter, and survival. But what about plants? Did you ever wonder how plants are able to grow without ever "eating" like we do? What do plants need in order to survive? If plants all of a sudden were extinct, what does that mean for us and the animals around us?
In this webquest, you will explore interdependence between animals, plants, and us (humans) through a variety of videos and reading passages. So, put your complex thinker hat on and get ready!

1. Watch the following Brain Pop Junior video (click here) to learn about the structure, or parts, of a plant. After watching the video, create an illustration in your Science Journal that describes each part of a plant. Make sure to label the different structures described in the video and include one sentence descriptions for each plant part.
2. Now that you know the structures of a plant and the functions, or roles, of those parts, how does the plant grow, breath, or eat? In this next task, you will become a student in Ms. Frizzle's class. You will hop on the Magic School Bus and dive into the inner workings of a plant. Listen carefully and pay attention to the details. Click on the picture for the video.
After watching the Magic School Bus Gets Planted video, complete the following worksheet and turn into the Classwork Basket. Make sure you remember to write your name, date, and write in complete sentences. |
